What is your main area(s) of interest/expertise?
I am a clinical anaesthetist and my research work is in the area of biomedical engineering. I develop novel intravascular sensors and analytical techniques to detect and monitor disordered physiology of the respiratory and cardiovascular systems in the critically ill.
What are you working on right now?
I am translating these new technologies and analytical models into medical devices that can have an impact on patient care – for example the new prototype rapidly deployable ventilator.
Why is Oxford a good place to work in this field of research?
There are unrivalled opportunities here for medics and engineers to collaborate, bringing complementary skill sets together to tackle urgent problems.
