Oxford has wonderful resources as well as significant gravitational pull – I appreciate how fortunate I am to work with such amazing colleagues at the forefront of AI work.
What is the biggest opportunity or challenge in AI?
There is a gulf between what society may think of as artificial intelligence and the reality of what is being developed in labs and in private companies. The danger is of either under or over-anticipating the impact of AI. I believe there is a great amount of work to do in involving the public in the realities of AI so that civil society and other stakeholders can both be cognisant of, and feed their views into, the way AI develops.
