What is the biggest opportunity or challenge in AI?
We are starting to see machines with autonomous features appearing in our daily lives – from fully autonomous vacuum cleaners and lawn mowers, to stock-taking robots in supermarkets, and advanced driver assistance aids in vehicles. AI is the key enabling technology which will allow these autonomous systems to improve their performance over their lifetimes. But since these devices are only just entering real-world environments at scale, we need research to understand the variety of situations and challenges they will face, and to develop algorithms to adapt to them.
